BHEL(Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited) 2011 Engineer Trainee and Supervisor Trainee written Exam ANSWER KEY

BHEL 2011
The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited conducted exams at various centres for Electronics and Electrical engineering section today(18 September 2011). The test was rated 2 out of 5 in terms of the difficulty of questions. There were 240 questions which can be considered equivalent to 1 mark questions appearing in GATE examinations.

Answering 240 questions in 150 minutes demands lot of speed. The verbal aptitude questions as usual consumes some Reading the passage and answering the questions asked based on them.

There were two SETS of question papers A and B. The electronics section began with questions from Op-Amps(Operational Amplifiers)

1. Find out the gain of the amplifier by giving feedback resistance and input resistance. Anyone who remembered the formula could solve it easily.
 Gain=1+(Rf/Ri) for non-inverting mode and
Gain= -(Rf/R) for inverting mode.

2. Unlike GATE questions based on General awareness on TECHNICAL aspects were there. For instance,
Q: Which type of material is used for Electromagnets?

  • Cast Iron
  • Soft Iron
  • Copper
  • None of the above
3. Many questions were asked form Electronic devices and circuits mostly basics from BJT and FET.

Q: Which of the following in npn transistor is heavily doped?
  • Emitter
  • Collector
  • Base
  • Both Emitter and collector
  • None of the above
4. From digital circuits simple questions based on multiplexers, counters, gates and shifters were asked.

Q: To make an m-bit parallel adder the minimum number of full adders required is?
  • m
  • m-1
  • m+1
  • none of the above
The answer is m-1. The first bit can be realised by half adder since it has no carry.

Q: Which kind of counters are used for ripple counters?
  • Synchronous
  • Asynchronous
  • Both
  • None
5. From quantitative aptitude questions many interesting but usual questions were there.
Q: A and B can do a work in 10 days. A can do half the work in 10 days. How many days are required to do the work by B alone?
  • 20
  • 30
  • 10
  • none of the above
The answer is 20.

6. 20 unseen questions were easily solvable.
Two columns with one value on left side and another one on the right side. Our task is to find out whether A(value on left column) is greater than B(right column).
  • A > B
  • A < B
  • A = B
  • Insufficient data
  • Both belong to different units, so can not compare them
Q: A=X, B=Z
Ans: (4) because both are variables.

Q: A= 5 seconds B=7 km/hour
Ans: (5)

Q: A=(m-n)^2 , B=(m+n)^2
Ans:(4) because 'm' and 'n' can be positive or negative values.

We are working on the ENTIRE SOLUTIONS and will be made available SOON.
